Baby Cooper Decoy?

Brett got home last night from travel!  Yeah! We chatted for a while, but I was beat so I went to bed and he stayed up for a bit.  Being so tired, I fell asleep pretty quickly...that is until I was woken by a baby crying...you know that not quite with it feeling you have when you are woken up?  Well, I couldn't quite figure out what was going on, it didn't sound like Cooper in his crib.  The cry seemed like it was coming from downstairs, though, it still didn't really sound like Cooper.  So I went downstairs in a haze, only to find out Brett was watching something on Netflix with a crying baby (I have no idea what he was watching.).  And unfortunately, just as I was falling asleep again, Cooper woke up!  Sigh...

Moving on, we had a great day today.  We made some yummy Lemon Blueberry Cookies, I found on Pinterest (my new obsession!).  They recipe originated from this website.  And yes, I had to repin 2 more things in the process of looking up the recipe website, that is how addicting Pinterest is for me.  We then took some of these to our playdate with Don!  The boys as always had a blast and even got to try out Don's new water table!  And while the boys were napping, I continued working on a little project, painting Evan's booster seat, pictures to come, assuming it turns out well :-)

Potty Training and Scooching

You might wonder what this picture has to do with potty training...well, I'll spare you the tot on the potty pics.  I'm thinking Evan wouldn't appreciate that as he gets older.  What you can't see in this picture is his bare bottom, which is how he spent much July.  So I had been wanting to start potty training, but was apprehensive to start.  It was going to be really difficult to be consistent on top of things, while also taking care of a young baby.  So I was planning to wait till August or September to start.  We have been talking about potties and the whole process for a long time, probably since he was 15 months or so.  Then around 18 months, we'd have him sit on the potty before bath time.  There would be an occasional success.  He showed spurts of interest and we really took advantage of those times!  Then July 4th, Evan saw his little friend use his potty while they were over.  The next morning he said "No Diaper" well, he didn't need to tell me twice.  So the next two days we went completely bare bottom.  The first day you could see him figuring it out- he got better as the day progressed.  The next day, he knew what to do!  We kept up the bare bottom practicing for a while.  The only time he wears diapers is for nap time and bedtime.  We've moved onto wearing training undies.  This is a bit more of a challenge, as it's hard for him to pull them down and he wants to do it all by himself.  And he's incredibly stubborn (ahh...2 year olds) and doesn't respond well to me trying to get him to sit on the potty.  He doesn't have any accidents when bare bottomed.  And he hasn't had any accidents while we are out and about.  So he can do it.  We just have to work on cooperating while at home and wearing clothes.  All in all, I'm thrilled with how he's doing!  Go Evan!

Oh little Cooper!  Our little mover!  He doesn't stay in one spot long.  He's not crawling yet, but he scooches like a champ.  He does some impressive push ups too and rocks back and forth on his toes or knees in his crib too.  Evan never did this.  I have a feeling Cooper is going to be crawling earlier than Evan did.  I'm sooo in trouble.  Better get used to climbing over baby gates again!

Breathe.

It's 8:44 pm.  Finally getting a chance to sit down.  The wee ones are down.  Toys are picked up.  The kitchen is clean (for the next 5 minutes at least).  The hubby's hair is cut and clothes picked out for his travel (yes, I'm a part time style consultant as well.).  It's quiet.  Ahh...   Just the sound of the cicadas and other evening chirpers.  I'm just taking my time to breathe, relax and type.  It's been much too long since my last post.  Don't think we haven't been busy though!  I've just been too darn tired to post at the end of the day!  That and we've been enjoying attempting to enjoy the Olympics...oh quick rant...

Rant start:  Seriously NBC!?!?  I had been so excited to finally get to watch the Olympics.  I feel like I've always missed most of them being at work or school.  Much to my dismay, during the day, when I could turn the tv on (usually 1-3), it seemed to always be beach volleyball.  While I enjoyed catching some of the beach volleyball, after a few sets, I was really ready for a new sport. (8:53 pm baby up...pacify... 8:59 pm back down- he's having a rough time, I'm thinking teeth?  I pretty much didn't sleep past 2 am last night.)  The evenings were the worst!  We'd turn the tv on around 7:30, or after we had the wee ones in bed and wait and wait for them to start playing some of the events...it was usually 8:30 at best when they'd actually show some sports.  Gymnastics is one of my favorites, I don't think they ever showed this earlier than 9:30/10.  At this point, I was beyond tired and had to call it a day.  So bummed!  We got our fill of beach volleyball and diving.  Oh, and don't even get me started on trying to stream it over the internet.  If you don't have a high enough cable subscription, they block you!!!  Argh!   Okay, rant over.

So we've been very busy.  Evan started learning how to use the potty, he turned 2!  Cooper is scooching around and started trying some solids.  We finished painting the exterior of the house (long time coming), fixed the ceiling in the half bath, trimmed up some trees, discovered another patio, and relocated the raspberry bushes.  We had a beach weekend, went to the zoo, and explored the 4H Fair.  All this along with the normal day to day fun!  Needless to say we've been having a great summer!  I'm hoping to post some catch up pictures and what not as I can.

9:18 pm- Thinking I better get some sleep while I can.  First a cute picture to leave you with.  Nope, Cooper's up again.  Here's hoping for sleep.  Good night!
