One of those days....

So this day actually occurred several weeks ago...but I have to share, since I have pictures that really help tell the story and it just makes me laugh. You know (or remember) the days were the kids are just crazy and you decide to just go with it, instead of trying to regain control?!  ...Ours are days like this are frequent and nearly always enjoyable, even if the mess is a little ridiculous.  This particular day Cooper was really testing out his climbing skills.  I ended up having to rearrange furniture and toys so he couldn't get into any dangerous situations.  Speaking of his climbing skills, not this particular day, it was actually this week.  I was putting the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, when I thought..hmm...it's awfully quiet over there...Evan was in the playroom, Cooper had wandered back in the dining room, which is theoretically baby proof, so I wasn't concerned...he was out of my sight for maybe 2 minutes...I went in to see what he had found to get into...he was on the table...he used a little chair to climb into Evan's booster seat then onto the table. Awesome...I'm so in trouble with this one :-)

Anyway, so getting back on track, they day was just crazy.  Brett was not going to be home until late.  After dinner we had a little dance party to dance off some evening energy before bed.  Cooper wandered off while I was dancing with Evan.  When I got to the kitchen, I discovered that he had found the leftover Rice Krispies and poured them all over the floor...Evan of course joined in on the treat.

And having cleaned up after everyone all day (repeatedly), I just decided to go with it, poured myself a little glass of wine and enjoyed watching them go to town spreading cereal all over.  Brett walked in, laughed and found the camera to get this picture and then joined us.

Another Kitchen Update

So after our pretty much no cost kitchen bandaid, we decided the original white Formica counter tops looked awful.  They were in poor condition and just looked bad- they also weren't actually attached to anything, you could slide or lift them.  For our future kitchen we are considering using butcher block counter tops, so we decided to give them a trail run in our hopefully temporary kitchen.  Bonus, they are cheap compared to most counter top options that we like.  Here are the pictures of the final (but still hopefully temporary) updated kitchen. Oh and while we were at it, Brett replaced the sink and faucet.  All materials we have had in the attic for our future kitchen.  Check out the lean on that cabinet face- I say face- because there was absolutely nothing else to it- no other cabinet sides or support.  Awesome...

And here are the Cooper checking out the new cabinet Brett threw together.  The original one was about 3 inches deep and pretty useless.  He bumped it out and now we have a much more functional cabinet.

And the final product!

Winter Days

Cooper's Birthday- post Party

Once again, I've been a bit busy and neglectful of the blog.  I've got tons of pictures though, so get ready for the catch up!

Here's the birthday boy on his actual birthday, a day after his party!

Happy First Birthday to my sweet little boy!
